I have been options trading on the US markets now for nearly 2 years and the thing that I love about it the most is that when I am sleeping, the market is working. The beauty of living on the other side of the world to the market. I still consider myself a student of the market as you are always learning, be it when you are right or when you are wrong. There is always something to take away from it. The market is constantly evolving.
The great thing about Options trading is that you can make money when the market is going up, going down or going no-where it just revolves around the strategy that you use. The fact that I like is that I only have to be right 40% of the time and I am making money.
You need to be disciplined and keep training and also have the right software to navigate your way through the markets. I was trained by Optionetics and the thing that I liked about them was that I can keep going back and there is no extra charge. When the kids are old enough they are trained for free and will enjoy the same privileges that I do. For my Trading Software I use Profit Source and Option gear both created by Hubb. My Broker is Options Express whom are fantastic.
For those of you interested, the reason I trade the U.S markets and not the Australian Market is because of the sheer volume of the market and the fact that I can trade in contracts of 100 rather than the minimum 100 shares in Australia. I use Schaeffer's to provide me with the market intelligence that I need everyday to help find the right stock to trade. They do all the fundamental analysis for me which saves me a lot of time. They are primarily contrarian traders - which gives you a great perspective of the Market. At the beginning of the year the market was very pessimistic - these guys said that the market would go through 13,000 to new highs. The only ones that did!
I have attached links to the places and my recommendation is whatever you do with the markets - get training. You need to be disciplined in the markets. Have a trading plan and follow the plan and it takes all the risk and worry out of the trade.
